KPS COVID Update 2022

KPS COVID-19 UPDATE FEBRUARY 2ND 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Based on advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the Department of Education & Training, there has been some changes made on how cases of COVID-19 and contacts of cases are managed in schools.

Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT)

RAT kits have been distributed to all students at the start of Term 1.  Self-testing of students is to be undertaken twice a week with the supplied kits.  Further RAT kits will be distributed by the school as soon as they are received.

Students are requested to be tested twice a week.  It is suggested that the tests are done on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Any COVID-19 positive results are to be reported to the school as soon as possible. The student does not attend school for 7 days from the date of the positive test.   The student can return to school on Day 8 as long as they are not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.

Please note that all positive results also need to be reported to the Victorian Department of Health/.  This can be done via the link from your Services Victoria app.

Communication to families

If a student is reported to the school as positive, we will contact the families of the impacted home group requesting parents/carers be vigilant for symptoms of COVID-19 with their students.  This communication will be sent via email.  An SMS will alert you of the email.

Please make sure that your recorded contact details are up to date.

Vaccination

All children 5 years and up are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.  We encourage all students to be vaccinated and the earliest possible opportunity.

Other preventative measures

Fitted face masks are mandatory for all students (except those with a medical exemption) in Years 3 to 6.  It is highly recommended and encouraged for students from Foundation to Year 2 to also wear a fitted face mask.

All visitors to the school are required to wear a fitted face mask, QR Code Check-in and show their vaccination status to the Administration staff.  Please note that only fully vaccinated visitors above 12 years old are permitted on the school property. (except where medically exempt).

KPS has implemented air purifiers and a ventilation plan to minimise the risk of transmission in all indoor learning spaces.

If you have any further concerns, please call the school on 03 9798 4764.
